ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Creative Services department plans and manages the flow of promotion, communication and information resource projects through the creative process. Non-managers within this team articulate, communicate and explain the orthodox Christian perspective through the delivery of project concepts, design, writing, editing, production and distribution of materials that reiterate the Focus Canada message and brand. 


ABOUT THE POSITION

Focus on the Family Canada is seeking a contractual 6-month full time Junior Copy Editor to join our Creative Services team. You’ll play a key role in ensuring quality and consistency across various print and digital materials that support our mission to strengthen families. Collaborating with the Director of Content and Creative Services and the Editorial Team, you’ll handle copyediting for web content, email campaigns, direct mail, and more. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented editor with a strong grasp of grammar and style who is eager to contribute to impactful, high-quality content in a mission-driven environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Copyediting for Print Projects:

  • Copyedit ministry materials and resources such as brochures, booklets, and promotional materials ensuring clarity, consistency, and adherence to The Canadian Press and Focus on the Family Canada editorial style guides.
  • Edit direct mail packages and other marketing and fundraising print collateral. 


Digital Content Support:

  • Edit, write, and help upload website content to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with Focus on the Family Canada’s mission and messaging standards.
  • Support email campaigns and other online initiatives with high-quality copyediting and occasional copywriting.

Product Marketing Support: 

  • Collaborate with editors, designers, and the Product Marketing team to ensure excellence in product emails, catalogues, flyers, and web content.
  • Edit and prepare product descriptions, headers, subheadings, and web components, including banners and social media posts, as needed.

General Editorial Support: 

  •  Assist the editorial team in ensuring quality, consistency, and accuracy across all publications and internal documents, including orthodoxy. 

 
ABOUT YOU

  • You are detail-oriented with a strong grasp of grammar and style.
  • You have proven experience in copywriting with excellent communication skills.
  • You have the ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and collaborate effectively with a team.
  • You are flexible and takes initiative in coordinating project details with internal clients

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year copyediting experience, with strong command of grammar, punctuation, and style guides.
  • Understanding of The Canadian Press style guide is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with HubSpot and CMS systems an asset.
  • Willing and able to work as part of a team, capable of drawing on the strengths and resources of team members and the organization
  • Active participant in the organization’s devotions time
