ABOUT THE POSITION

The Counselling department provides brief assessment and consultation to constituents who contact the ministry, primarily by telephone but occasionally in person and via mail and email. The Hope Restored department plans and coordinates Focus Canada’s Christ-centered marriage ministry through intensive marriage counselling programs. Managers within this team train, mentor and guide team members to articulate, communicate and explain the orthodox Christian perspective through the delivery of intensive counselling sessions that focus on saving marriages that are in crisis. Counselling intensives include group and individual couple counselling sessions to help attendees deal with the issues that plague their marriage. Additionally, this team is called upon to lead / facilitate marriage enrichment events across the country. In addition to our therapists, we recruit some of their spouses and other facilitator couples to provide teaching on the Hope Restored principles to church and retreat settings.

Managers lead attendees in prayer, and Scriptural teaching. They regularly pray privately and with their team members regarding work-related matters. They interact with individuals and groups through various communication methods, and may publicly represent Focus Canada at trade, ministry and non-ministry activities and events. They may lead employees in daily devotions, prayer time and Bible reading, and may occasionally pray publicly as opportunities require.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

To give executive leadership to the Hope Restored program as well as coordinate facilitators for marriage enrichment events. It is also hoped that a parenting initiative will be part of this job function at a future date to be determined.

  1. General oversight of Counselling & Care Ministries
    • Supervises Director of Counselling, Manager of Retreats & Care
    • Creates and manages departmental budget
    • Reports on activities to leadership team and the board
    • Oversees all activity within the department
    • Liaises with other departments as needed for promotional and consultive purposes
  1. General oversight of Hope Restored Ministries
    • Supervises full time Hope Restored staff and contractors
    • Meets regularly with Internal and External team leads
    • Participates in team meetings
    • Creates and manages departmental budgets in cooperation with the Kerith Executive Director
    • Reports on activities to leadership team and the board as requested
    • Oversees all activity within the department
    • Liaises with other departments as needed for promotional and consultive purposes
  1. Marriage Enrichment Facilitation
    • Maintains a list of qualified teams to facilitate marriage enrichment events
    • Recruits and oversees training of new teams as needed
    • Coordinates schedule of availability of teams with the Events marketing team which is responsible for planning and organizing the events
    • Ensures that contractors are scheduled and paid in a timely fashion
    • Liaises with the Event Marketing team on event details
    • Consults on budget for those events
  1. Family Ministries
    • Ministry consultant on parenting and family ministry topics
    • When timing is right, work on new parenting initiative

ABOUT YOU

  • Masters degree in Counselling, Theology or similar
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and training
  • Minimum 5 years in senior leadership role
  • Detail oriented
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Articulate communicator both verbal and written
  • Self-starter
  • Willing and able to work as part of team as well as independently
