ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Events and Sponsorship Manager to join our Integrated Marketing Team. The Events and Sponsorship Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of our marriage enrichment conferences and retreats in churches and hotels across Canada; and at our retreat centres in Ontario, Alberta, and Manitoba. They will be responsible for various exhibit events, sponsorship opportunities, and support other new initiatives throughout the year to promote our ministry and cultivate meaningful relationships with supporters and partners.

The Events and Sponsorship Manager will manage the events calendar, order promotional materials, and ensure all events are properly staffed, catered (when applicable), and outfitted with necessary collateral and materials.

The successful candidate will oversee a team of staff and volunteers; and collaborate with the Care and Counselling, Creative Services and Media Production teams.


KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

Event Planning and Execution

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of our marriage enrichment retreats and conferences in churches, hotels, and retreat centres across Canada.
  • Plan and execute various exhibit events such as MissionsFest in Vancouver and Manitoba, YFC Change Conference, and Impactus Events, to name a few; as well as manage sponsorship opportunities throughout the year both organically and through our partner agency.
  • Develop detailed event timeline and work back schedules to ensure seamless execution of events.
  • Manage end-to-end process of concept to execution and post-event follow-up. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to deliver exceptional experiences.
  • Establish and nurture long-term relationships with vendors and sponsors that are mutually beneficial, and further our mission.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with church administrators, hotels, and other venues across Canada.
  • Skilled in negotiating to acquire the best non-profit rates with event venues across Canada.
  • Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Track and report on key performance metrics related to events, partnerships, and lead generation.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for improving future events and engagements.


Sponsorship Management

  • Identify sponsorship opportunities aligned with our mission and values.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with sponsors, ensuring fulfillment of sponsorship commitments.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to maximize brand exposure through sponsorship opportunities.


Staff and Volunteer Management

  • Recruit, onboard, and train staff and volunteers for events and sponsorships.
  • Develop training materials and conduct orientation sessions to ensure team members are well-prepared for their roles.
  • Implement systems to supervise the performance of staff and volunteers.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, providing leadership and support to staff and volunteers.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement with the team.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, acknowledging their contributions to the organization.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide constructive feedback and recognition to team members for their contributions.


Travel

  • Travel approximately 20% of the time to attend local and national events.

 
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Event Management, Marketing or a related field
  • Proven track record in event planning and management, with a focus on scaling impactful events and outcomes.
  • Outgoing personality to represent Focus on the Family Canada at various events with professionalism and demonstrated success in building partnerships in the non-profit or Christian sector.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Deep commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with the values and mission.
  • Proven experience in recruiting, training, and managing staff and volunteers.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate individuals to contribute their best efforts.
  • Experience in developing and implementing training programs.
