ABOUT THE POSITION

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Donor Relations Co-ordinator to join our Donor Relations team who will manage the stewardship and growth of our mid-level donors, work to hear and develop the impact stories of our donors, and assist in the planning and implementation of special projects related to donor relations. The role requires experience in fundraising and donor development, including the ability to connect with donors by phone, experience overseeing and managing campaigns is also an important element for this role. The position is based out of our head office in Langley, BC, and is eligible for full health and dental benefits.    

Key responsibilities

Mid-Level Donor Stewardship and Growth:

  • Work with the Director of Donor Relations to develop a comprehensive strategy for stewarding and growing our mid-level donors.
  • With the Donor Relations team, brainstorm themes and content for fundraising campaigns that fit with the overall campaign strategy.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends in mid-level donor communication and cultivation.
  • Work with the Director of Donor Relations to determine when and where to include specialized offers and campaigns for our mid-level donors.
  • Oversee the design and completion of any pieces or packages specifically for mid-level donors, including any digital elements.
  • Manage the process and perform activities that thank our mid-level donors for their donations, including making thank-you calls, writing thank-you notes and meeting with local donors, as needed.
  • Qualify donors who might be a good fit for our Development team, through conversations and research, so they can follow up and further determine their giving potential.

Donor Impact Story and Lead Generation:

  • As you engage with donors, listen and learn about the impact the ministry is having on families, in general, and on them, specifically.
  • Learn the details of someone’s story – both in hard facts and their emotional and spiritual response, documenting each story so these leads can be passed on to our editorial team.
  • Present concepts and stories to the Donor Relations and Integrated Marketing teams as ideas for future projects.
  • Work with the Director of Donor Relations to turn these stories or quotes into our monthly thank you letters, drafting these letters for review by our editorial team.

ABOUT YOU

You thrive in a work environment that can be fast-paced with multiple, and often conflicting, deadlines. You love fundraising, connecting with people and learning new things. You have experience in fundraising and are interested in continuing to grow and test your skills in this area. You want to use your fundraising skill set to help families grow stronger, encourage couples to deepen their love and faith, ensure children are raised to love the Lord, and provide practical guidance to those who are in desperate need of hope.

For primary consideration you must bring the following to this role:

  • Post secondary education or professional training in donor relations, fundraising, marketing, business administration or a related discipline
  • 2-5 years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, marketing, project management, business analysis or similar 
  • Dedication to learning about proven donor relations principles, fundraising techniques and accepted marketing principles 
  • Ability to draft emotive and persuasive content
  • Highly attentive to detail and committed to following through on processes and procedures
  • Warm and pleasant on the phone, able to express sincere gratitude and recognize the sacrifice and generosity of each donor
  • Ability to follow a script while being insightful to know when and how to be flexible in a phone conversation based on the donor’s situation
  • Good listener, being able to “hear” what someone is really saying with the ability to ask good questions and know when to press further or back off
  • Strong written and verbal skills in English
  • Good penmanship, able to write clearly and legibly
