About the Position

Focus on the Family Canada is seeking a part-time Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Accounting and Finance team. As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing and processing the company’s outgoing payment and be responsible for accurate and timely recording of financial transactions of Focus on the Family Canada. The role requires the ability to be detail oriented, organized, possession of sound accounting principles, a pleasant and collaborative personality, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The position is based out of our head office in Langley, BC, and is eligible for health and dental benefits

Key responsibilities
  • Ensures that all PO related invoices are verified using the 3-way match process of gathering the PO, Receiving Approvals, and Invoice copy. Request approval as needed on service-related invoices and ensures bills are paid in an efficient and timely manner. 
  • Ensures that all non-PO invoices get timely approvals and that GL accounting coding on invoices is accurate.  
  • Processes and enters all A/P invoices, credit memos, payments and expense reports into FOTF’s ERP system, including ensuring correct GL Account coding.  
  • Prepares vendor payments semi-monthly using the EFT process. 
  • Maintains vendor folders and updates the filing system as needed. 
  • Assists with reconciling vendor statements, including asking vendor for missing invoices
  • Assists with the credit card reconciliation process to meet the month-end credit card journal entry. 
  • Review employee expense reports and ensure receipts are attached and approvals received.
  • Performs other duties as required to support the Finance Department. 
  • Assists the HR department with filing and other administrative tasks as required.

Qualifications
  • Ideally completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate in accounting, business or other relevant program (preferred) 
  • 2-5 years of experience working in accounting/finance 
  • Technologically savvy with strong proficiency in all Microsoft Suite -  Excel, MS Word, MS Teams, Access, and Outlook
  • Proven experience with using cloud- based accounting software
  • Willing to be flexible to work as part of a team, when required to respond to diverse needs, and with urgent and important task as they arise.  
  • Active participant in the organization’s devotions time and has a heart for ministry
